Michael Wilson, participated on the AFFLINK team, “AFFLINK chose to participate in the inaugural Dragon Boat Races last year because it allowed us to show our thanks and commitment to the Tuscaloosa community...And we'll do it again this year because it was so much fun!”
Dragon Boat racing is rapidly gaining popularity as the eighth fastest-growing water sport in the world. Participants rave about the excitement, friendly competition and community spirit surrounding the sport. Teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steersperson race in authentic 46-foot long Chinese dragon boats. The Junior League of Tuscaloosa Dragon Boat Races features local and regional community and corporate teams racing for title of Grand Champion. Off the water, team members also compete to raise the most pledges for The Junior League of Tuscaloosa.
This event is the ultimate fun combined with an unforgettable fundraising experience. Each team will get an on-water practice session with a trained coach prior to race day and compete in at least two heats on Saturday, April 20, 2012.
