7th Annual Nicholas Wilson Memorial Run - January 16th
THE 7TH ANNUAL NICHOLAS WILSON MEMORIAL
TASHKA TRAIL 50K AND 25K AND 4 MILE RUN
JANUARY 16, 2016
The Nicholas Wilson Memorial Tashka Trail running race has been a huge success since its inaugural event in December 2010. The annual race started as a way to give back to the Tuscaloosa Community while preserving the memory of a lost child. The race memorializes Nicholas Wilson, infant child of Julie and Eric Wilson, that passed away in January 2008.
The race has raised over $25,000 for charities and organizations for children throughout the years – including CHOM –The Children’s Hands on Museum, Kid One Transport and The Brayden House, which provides housing and meals for displaced parents of babies in the NICU unit at local hospitals free of charge. The Nicholas Wilson Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is dedicated to providing support to various children’s programs and charities throughout West Alabama.
The Tashka Trail Race combines races of 50 kilometers, 25 kilometers and 4 miles which fits most any runner’s distance wish – from ultra trail running veterans to new trail runners. The race is held at the beautiful Lake Lurleen State Park in Coker, Alabama and starts rain or shine at 7:00 am. This race draws hundreds of racers from all over the country. The race consists of almost 3,000 vertical feet of climbing with all kinds of surfaces on the single track course that one can imagine – dirt, grass, roots, leaves, bridges and some pavement. There are four aid stations along the way.
Every effort is made to put on a fun and safe experience for runners, sponsors and volunteers. Anyone who would like more information can contact Race Director Alison White at 205-826-1658 or visit www.tashka50k.com.
